Does zero revenue mean no filing?
Do not make that assumption. Form 5472 rules concern reporting corporations and reportable transactions. Certain foreign-owned U.S. disregarded entities fall within this framework.
Facts to prepare
- Owner tax status and ownership relationships
- Federal tax classification
- Formation, funding, loans and related-party records
- Who paid expenses and whether distributions or liquidation occurred
Build a transaction schedule
Record dates, parties, amounts, currencies and transaction types, with supporting documents. An inactive bank account or lack of sales is not a reason to overlook owner and related-party activity.
Next step
Review the facts against the applicable Form 5472 instructions. Required filings, accompanying forms and timing depend on the circumstances.
